The difference between changing your status and going abroad to get your F1 is the actual VISA in side the passport. If you go to Turkey, you will get the visa i the passport which will allow you to travel back and forth. And in case of changing your status, you will have the same permission to study in the U.S. and be legal in USA without leaving the country.

The final decision it is really up to you.

In order to apply for the change of status, we need to receive the following:

1) submit application form- you can do it online.

Don't forget to provide all the information, including address in the US and also in your country. Please note that F1 visa is given for the long term studeies, therefore we recommend you to apply for at least 4 sessions (6 month).

2) with the information from the application form, we will send you an invoice for $935, which includes first 6 weeks of class ($540) , registration ($100), processing ($80), mailing ($15) and SEVIS fee ($200) . You will be able to pay it by sending a check or money order(in order of Bell Language School), or making a deposit to our account, if you cannot come in person to pay. You will also have to pay the Immigration and Naturalization Service fee for change of status, which is $290.

3) provide copies of:

-DS form

4) Provide copies of statements of your financial support. These documents are required by US Immigration and Naturalization Service from the school to issue an I-20 form.

You can use one of three possible ways of stating your financial support:

Please note that in every case your available funds should be aproximately $1300 per month of your intended study (for instance, if you intend to study 6 months, your balance should be no less than $7,100). You may either:

* Submit an original statement from your bank account.

OR

* if you have an American resident or citizen as your sponsor, have him or her fill out affidavit of support (I-134 form) and submit his or her bank statement.



OR


* if you have a sponsor who resides in your country, have your sponsor write a sponsorship letter (in English) and submit his or her bank statement.




5) You should also write down a letter explaining why you want to study English in America.

6) Take a placement test and choose class schedule. As an F1 student, you must attend classes Monday to Friday in one of the following schedules:
- morning: from 8:30 to 12:15
- afternoon: from 1pm to 4:45
- evening: from 6pm to 9:45

7) With all the documents and the payment, we will issue the I-20 form and the form for change of status. You will have to come to school, make sure everything is fine and then we will send the case to the Immigration.

Remember: Your documents must be submitted and received by INS before the expiration date indicated on your I-94 form. *INS is in the process of changing its regulations regarding change of status procedures. Please refer directly to Bell Language School Administration to find out whether you are eligible for change of your non-immigrant status to F-1.
